The announcement was made at the official media launch with the theme, “Recognising our Past Achievements and Defining our Future” on Wednesday 3rd August, 2022 at The Brix Autograph Collection.
Lochan Dass is the successor to Brian Gopaul, former Miss World Trinidad and Tobago Franchise Holder and National Pageant Director. She will be assisted by Phaedra Adele, Co-National Pageant Director.
Speaking during the launch, Lochan Dass said, “This pageant is about national service, service to our country, service to our community and service to our young girls and women to become role models. We will be giving hundreds of girls this unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to represent Trinidad and Tobago on the world stage. The Miss World pageant has put humanitarian issues at the forefront, with a mission to help the underprivileged. This mission resonated with me, as I too believe in giving back.”
As the National Pageant Director, she said her mission is to ensure real and tangible projects will be launched and developed that impact our communities with women and children in particular, “We will work with the girls to make their projects live on, well after the competition ends, to bring long-term positive effects to our communities. As franchise holder, I would like this to not only be a legacy but a responsibility.”
Brian Gopaul, Former Pageant Director who officially handed over the National Directorship Franchise said he was extremely happy to pass over the baton to Charu and her team, “Through this platform, The Miss World Pageant and its organisation were able to showcase our beautiful twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the millions around the world. It also gave us the opportunity to give back to the less fortunate, through its “Beauty with a Purpose” platform and its humanitarian journey across the globe.”
Reigning Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2021 Jeanine Brandt revealed how happy she was for the opportunity to stand and represent Trinidad and Tobago on the world stage. This opportunity, she noted, was a high point for her as it expanded her knowledge of the world, its community and people.
