New Ms World franchise holder aims to bring home the crown

Fash­ion de­sign­er and en­tre­pre­neur Charu Lochan Dass is the new fran­chise hold­er and na­tion­al pageant di­rec­tor for the Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go Pageant. At the of­fi­cial launch to­day Lochan Dass said  “This pageant is about na­tion­al ser­vice, ser­vice to our coun­try, ser­vice to our com­mu­ni­ty and ser­vice to our young girls and women to be­come role mod­els.

Charu Lochan Dass, fash­ion de­sign­er and en­tre­pre­neur is the new Fran­chise Hold­er and Na­tion­al Pageant Di­rec­tor for the Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go Pageant. The an­nounce­ment was made at the of­fi­cial me­dia launch with the theme, “Recog­nis­ing our Past Achieve­ments and Defin­ing our Fu­ture” on Wednes­day 3rd Au­gust, 2022 at The Brix Au­to­graph Col­lec­tion. 

Lochan Dass is the suc­ces­sor to Bri­an Gopaul, for­mer Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go Fran­chise Hold­er and Na­tion­al Pageant Di­rec­tor. She will be as­sist­ed by Phae­dra Adele, Co-Na­tion­al Pageant Di­rec­tor. 

Speak­ing dur­ing the launch, Lochan Dass said, “This pageant is about na­tion­al ser­vice, ser­vice to our coun­try, ser­vice to our com­mu­ni­ty and ser­vice to our young girls and women to be­come role mod­els. We will be giv­ing hun­dreds of girls this unique, once in a life­time op­por­tu­ni­ty to rep­re­sent Trinidad and To­ba­go on the world stage. The Miss World pageant has put hu­man­i­tar­i­an is­sues at the fore­front, with a mis­sion to help the un­der­priv­i­leged. This mis­sion res­onat­ed with me, as I too be­lieve in giv­ing back.” 

As the Na­tion­al Pageant Di­rec­tor, she said her mis­sion is to en­sure re­al and tan­gi­ble projects will be launched and de­vel­oped that im­pact our com­mu­ni­ties with women and chil­dren in par­tic­u­lar, “We will work with the girls to make their projects live on, well af­ter the com­pe­ti­tion ends, to bring long-term pos­i­tive ef­fects to our com­mu­ni­ties. As fran­chise hold­er, I would like this to not on­ly be a lega­cy but a re­spon­si­bil­i­ty.” 

Bri­an Gopaul, For­mer Pageant Di­rec­tor who of­fi­cial­ly hand­ed over the Na­tion­al Di­rec­tor­ship Fran­chise said he was ex­treme­ly hap­py to pass over the ba­ton to Charu and her team, “Through this plat­form, The Miss World Pageant and its or­gan­i­sa­tion were able to show­case our beau­ti­ful twin is­land Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go to the mil­lions around the world. It al­so gave us the op­por­tu­ni­ty to give back to the less for­tu­nate, through its “Beau­ty with a Pur­pose” plat­form and its hu­man­i­tar­i­an jour­ney across the globe.” 

Reign­ing Miss World Trinidad and To­ba­go 2021 Jea­nine Brandt re­vealed how hap­py she was for the op­por­tu­ni­ty to stand and rep­re­sent Trinidad and To­ba­go on the world stage. This op­por­tu­ni­ty, she not­ed, was a high point for her as it ex­pand­ed her knowl­edge of the world, its com­mu­ni­ty and peo­ple. 

Na­tion­al Pageant Co-Di­rec­tor Phae­dra Adele thanked the of­fi­cial spon­sors who would part­ner to bring home the crown – The Brix Au­to­graph Col­lec­tion; Sacha Cos­met­ics; Sa­lon Es­sen­tials; Lol­labee; Mil­len­ni­al man­age­ment; Kooties; The Flower Bar; The Fit­ness Cen­ter; CLD; Phae­dra Adele and Rat­ed Ram and Pre­mi­um Events, and the of­fi­cial pho­tog­ra­phers Ameer Ho­sein; Truston Ben­ny; Marc Jef­frey; Ra­jiv Sama­roo and Alex Thomas and Brett Ross. 

The con­tes­tants will ben­e­fit from train­ing and guid­ance from Adri­an Ray­mond, Ashvin Bal­ly, Lisa Ghany and Richard Young.
